Is This It MovieSummary
Filed under: Music; Tagged as: art, awards, celebrities, entertainment, free, hobbies, kids, leisure, movies, multimedia, Music, product reviews, teens, televisionComments OffMany fans of Michael Jackson will readily admit that his last 15 years or so were a far cry off from his glory days, and that he was never the same ever since falling from grace.
Clearly, Jackson’s lifestyle and success brought him a lot of stress that anyone would have a hard time handling. He became secluded and shut himself out from the world, granting sparse media access and producing very little new music.
Jackson made his best music in his teens and his 20s, and his songs are still some of the most popular in the world. Regardless of his final years, he’s left a legacy behind that very few people in music ever have.
Regardless of the case, Michael Jackson’s ‘Is This It’ was a movie that I went into with low expectations. I was always waiting for that one MJ revival, and it was so unfortunate to see his tragic ending, as he left us at such a young age.
I was expecting a sappy movie that played into his issues, with a lot of it covered up by the movie makers and everything else. I was wrong though, and many who’ve seen the movie will probably tell you the very same thing.
Jackson was a natural born performer, and regardless of his usual physical state, a different Jackson came out while he was on stage during these rehearsal sessions. It was very interesting to see such a transformation.
Not only were his vocals great, but he danced like he was 30, despite his age of 50 years. He showed charisma, and more energy on stage than you would ever expect when you consider his otherwise weak physical state.
This was an exceptional movie, as real as it gets. No Hollywood effects, simply real footage of the King of Pop during his final performance. I’d highly recommend this movie to just about anyone.

Well-Known Fender Vintage Guitars
Filed under: Music; Tagged as: antique, art, collectible, entertainment, Guitar, hobby, Music, VintageComments OffFender vintage guitars have more than 60 years of rock, jazz, country and funk history bottled up in them. If you get the chance to play one you can feel every one of the years. The Stratocaster, the Telecaster, the Mustang and the Precision Bass are four of the well-known models of vintage guitars.
The Fender Startocaster is an electric guitar with a solid-body and double-cut design. Released in 1954 the model still continues to be produced. The original model came in a 2-color sunburst finish, a solid maple neck, had 21 frets, and was available with 2 or 3 single-coil pickups. Over the years Strat has become to mean any guitar that resembles and shares similar features as the Stratocaster, however, the Stratocaster was the first and Fender carries the trademark. Over the years many famous musicians have played and endorsed Fender vintage guitars. For instance, Buddy Holly played a Statocaster guitar in 1958 on the Ed Sullivan Show.
The Fender Telecaster was released in 1949 and is also still in production. Originally called the Esquire, it was finally named the Telecaster after Fender fell into some legal issues with its second name, the Broadcaster. This is the oldest model of the four Fender vintage guitars and holds the title as the longest continually produced solid-body electric guitar. It was equipped with 2 single coil pickups and a fixed bridge. The Telecaster has been by such names as Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck among many other famous musicians.
The first guitar that had undergone a large scale production was the Fender Precision Bass (P-Bass). It was produced for the first time in the year 1951 and the production continues today. The initial model had a single pickup, 20 frets, and was designed in a similar fashion to the Telecaster. In order to make The P-Bass look like the Stratocaster it was redesigned in the year 1957 and with the time span of three years in 1960 its single pickup was removed to give place to a split-coil pickup wired in a humbucker fashion. A model simliar to the Telecaster was then produced in 1968 as the Telecaster Bass.
Founded by Clarence “Leo” Fender in 1946, the Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company is now called Fender Musical Instruments. Some other Fender guitar models include the Duo-Sonic (1956-1969), the Jaguar (1962-1975), and the Starcaster (1976-1982). Some of these have been reintroduced and are being produced today.
When you play vintage Peavey guitars you can hear the history. Blue Tree Vintage offers a complete collection of these vintage guitars along with many others. Don’t allow the history of music slip away.

Jamaican music, mainly Reggae, has seen surge in popularity in recent times. Other sounds from the island include Ska, Dancehall and Rocksteady. Perhaps, it is not only the musical melody and in particular the beat, but also how Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean are romanticized by not only the travel industry, but through film and other forms of media and entertainment as well.
The term “reggae” came from the Jamaican word “streggae”, which means a woman or man who dresses a little on the raggedy side. One day a couple of friends started doing a dance imitating the streggae in their eyes. They shortened the name to reggae and the beat they developed began. It became popular worldwide in the 1970′s mostly through the work of the famous musician Bob Marley.
Jamaica has a rich history with a multicultural background. Beginning with 1655, when England gained control of the island from Spain, many African were brought to the Caribbean Islands, including Jamaica through the slave trade, facilitating the mixture of the cultures, languages and religions. That is why the one-drop rhythm, which is the basis of reggae, is an original African rhythm.
As part of the multi culture, some other traditional sounds are waltzes, folk music, ska and calypso. While ska is a blend of rhythm and blues, mixing soft vocals with horn instruments, calypso, or mento, is a mix of African and European music, where acoustical instruments like guitars and banjo are used to play the calypso blend. Calypso actually emerged in the mid 20th century and spread rapidly throughout the whole Caribbean.
There is little doubt that Reggae and other Jamaican music will long be popular in most areas of the world.
Jamaican music takes us to a mystical place, so different from our usual day to day life scenario, and the upbeat rhythms give us a lift and make us happy.

3 Principles of Potent Piano Practice
Filed under: Music; Tagged as: art, arts, arts and entertainment, crafts, entertainment, hobbies, Music, Music Instruction, musical instruments, performing arts, piano, piano instruction, piano lessons, piano practiceComments OffAll piano players have one thing in common. We all want to improve our ears, get better technique and play phat solos. At least if you are in to popular and contemporary music, you know what I’m talking about. And even if classical is more your thing the essence of what I’m trying to say is still the same. The overarching question is always; What’s next? What do I need to work on to be able to play the things I really want to play, and reach new levels of musical enjoyment and freedom of expression?
Well, you might try prayer. Dear god, permit my piano to be a trifling extension of my arms. Motivate me with easy mastery. An irresistible brook of groovy notes flowing from the base of my comatose mind, through my instrument, transforming into perfect sound waves…and the audience goes ballistic!
Okay, that may or may not work so let’s give god a rest and take matters in to our own hands for the sake of this article.
The Trail to Powerful Piano Playing – First Steps…
1) Know the difference between practicing and playing.
When you’re playing you are expressing yourself. Your are sucked in to the moment. Mistakes don’t exist here. Everything that occurs is a component of the plan. When you’re practicing you are in the laboratory. You are experimenting. Mistakes jump at you ear as you are listening for them. When you come across them you take educated action to break down the routine of playing it wrong, replacing it with a new routine of playing it right.
2) Make up your own practice exercises.
Just do this one. Base them on scales, the circle of fifths and whatever else you can think of. Make them part of your daily practice and stick to them, even though they can sometime appear tedious. Instead of falling for that first temptation to lay it off because of boredom, try staying with it for just 5 more minutes. That’s usually all it takes to forget that you are bored and keep working on it. Routinized practice done with relaxed focus pays of ten fold in your playing, as you will discover if you do it.
3) Make friends with your ego.
When it comes down to remaining objective about your playing and properly identifying what requires work, your ego is just about always in the way. Perhaps you are feeling like the king of the planet as you play that pentatonic blues lick, but actually your rhythm could be absolutely off and you might be sounding atrocious. These kinds of things have a tendency to surprise folks. Rather like the reaction some of us have when we hear our own voice on a tape recorder. What? Do i sound like that? Is that me?
These principles are meant as a framework for you to build upon. All pianists are different and everyone must develop his or her own tricks, ideas and philosophies. I believe a good way to learn is to study the way skilled musicians think about practicing. The difference between being stuck with your instrument and positive musical development, very often comes down to habits, beliefs and understanding and applying the psychology of those who are already great.
