Why Volunteer To Work At A Music Festival
Comments OffIf you enjoy going to music festivals then it could be worth thinking about volunteering to work at some of your favourite events. It could sound like a load of unnecessary work that could threaten to take the fun out of the festival experience, but this certainly isn’t the case and for those who have never tried it it’s well worth a go. There are loads of organisations that require volunteers to work shifts at music festivals and events, so if you think it’s something for you then you shouldn’t have to look too far to find available positions.
If you’re unsure as to whether this is for you, we’ve put together some great reasons why you should give it a try:
Free Tickets – Festival tickets can end up costing you quite a lot of money. If you enjoy going to the larger events then the entrance fee alone can set you back a considerable amount of money. The first benefit to volunteering at a festival is that you get free entry into the event. Generally speaking you’ll only have to work a few shifts so once your work is done you are free to enjoy the festival and watch some bands.
Mix With New People – Many people who volunteer at a music festival find that they come away having made a lot of new friends. The social aspect of working with a team at a music festival is fantastic, and you’d be hard pushed not to make some new mates. Everyone who volunteers at music festival is there because they love being a festivals and they want to have a great time. This makes the perfect environment for meeting some cool new people.
The Best Camping – For many people who attend music festivals, the camping can often be the worst part of the experience. However, as a volunteer you’ll be able to camp away from the general public in the relative luxury of the staff campsite. Staff campsites are an altogether nicer affair with separate toilets, showers and sometimes catering. It is really nice to be at a festival yet have the benefit of being able to camp away from all the madness.
See Things From The Other Side – If you’ve attended festivals before and ever wandered what it’s like on the other side of the fence, then volunteering can give you a great insight into how a festival runs. It’s absolutely fascinating to experience the festival from another angle and actually work to keep the event running. All the volunteers at a festival play a crucial role in making sure the festival goers have a great time.
If you think volunteering for a festival might be for you, then start by doing a search on Google to see who provides staff and volunteers to your favourite festivals. Good luck!
