Listening to music whilst you work can be very productive as it gets you in the right frame of mind. But it can also prove counter productive if you listen to the wrong kind of music. Let me explain, if you have classical music playing in the background it could send some people to sleep if they are not classical fans. Also music with lyrics can have people concentrating so much on the lyrics that they forget about the job they are doing.

Here are a few of the bands that I listen to when I am at work that do not let me lose concentration.

Firstly there is “Ratatat” that I listen to. This band can be listened to very easily without losing focus on the job I am doing. This is because most of the tunes seem very similar so they just seem to drift into one another like background music.

Their latest album is very upbeat with an electro sound to it and is very enjoyable. The album is pronounced dead mouse but written Dead Mau5.

LCD soundsystem are a band with very few lyrics so they can also be very good to listen to at work without losing your focus on the job.

If I am working the late shift or even sometimes when I have come home I like to listen to a band called Broken Social scene. This band have some very good records that I love listening too as they allow you to feel relaxed with their instrumental sound.

Another album I listen too which took me by surprise was the Drake album. This is a quite laid back sound too which I really like.

I also like to listen to music from Amadou and Miriam. This unique African sound is really nice to listen to. Their new album “welcome to Mali” is excellent to listen too while I am working.
